I saw the other topic in regards to a Facebook group, and eventually somebody suggested Slack, etc. Being that I stream, I've messed around with almost every service imaginable. I gotta say, Discord is definitely the fucking future. I set up a server for SER. I'll post some screenshots, as well as the link of course to join. If you guys want to use it, go for it, if you don't, that's fine. Just figured I'd actually ... do ... something for SER.  If you do join, I'll assign admin status to those who actually care enough to keep the thing up to date, make channels etc.

Basically, Discord is pretty new, but it's a great chat client for our needs. I'm in like ... 12 Discord servers? Unlike IRC, which, let's face it, is fucking trash, you can actually keep track of all the various servers you're in pretty easily. You can set up voice channels, and text channels, you can PM friends, post pictures, whatever.  This shit is still pre-beta and it's already better than most things. OH and the best part? You can download the client, or run it straight from your browser, or run it on your phone, switching between any of them is super seamless too.

Once you have an account (which takes like ... fucking 12 seconds to make) and you login, your servers are all saved to your account, so you don't ever have to remember which ones you were in or passwords for them or anything of the sort. It's super fucking easy.

Here's a shot from my Stream's Server. All those icons on the left are the different servers I belong to. This was taken straight from the browser, as I'm on my work computer right now, but the client look

And here's a picture of the SER one. Nice and empty, because, ya know, it's new.

Also here are some pictures from the phone version. First picture is how it looks normally, second picture is showing the list of servers I'm in.

Anyway, the link below will get you into it. Once you're in, you're in. People will be able to generate invites as well, but uhh. If you have questions, shoot, I'll be here. I'll also be in there, because I'm always in Discord literally all the time, so ... Ask them here. Ask them there, I'll answer what I can.

I really do think this shit is the best option we've got, and it's only getting better too. But, no harm no foul if you don't want to use it, just figured I'd OFFERRRR.

(I have a feeling someone is gonna say "why use this when we already have something, and that's fair, I'm just giving you the option if you want to use it. It's pretty hassle free. Do what you do.)

General Rotors / So ... Who here streams?
« on: March 13, 2015, 07:42:43 PM »
(there's gonna be some self advertisement here, BUT OH WELL)

SO I'm curious who all here streams? Preferably on Twitch. Reason is because I've been streaming for the last few years now, and  actually became a partnered stream on Twitch ( Our biggest games are Monster Hunter (currently 4 Ultimate of course) and Smash Bros (we're all pretty involved with the Smash scene here so, we have a lot of top players as well as playing with viewers and what not), but we have a pretty set schedule for our stream.

THAT being said, the reason I ask if anybody streams or not is because I'm working on building a community. I want to sort of "take people under our wing" (not trying to sound in anyway conceited, just don't know of a better way to word it) per se, and make a stream team, as well as having people that we can support via our website (which is currently under construction BUT STILL). I'm curious if there is anyone here that enjoys streaming as much as I do, because like I said, I'm wanting to build a community, so I'd love to see some other streams and, ya know ... like .. work together and shit. BECAUSE IT'S FUNNNN.

Or, ya know, what're your opinions on streaming in general for those of you who don't do it?

General Rotors / So, Twitch is now autoflagging videos and muting them
« on: August 07, 2014, 10:05:03 AM »
Not sure how many people here stream, but whoops, good luck viewing any past broadcasts !!

They secretly slid this in under the radar, and are flagging videos for music that is licensed to mute it. Everything, even the commentary. Which is absolute bullshit.

It's such a broken system, that on my channel, last night we played Mario Galaxy for a while. 29 minutes into the broadcast it gets muted. FOR THIRTY MINUTES. All of it. Why? It says it is flagging it for the content, but the catch is that the only audio is from the game and us talking. Nothing else, we don't play music, we just hold conversations. This was in a MARIO game, so games where the soundtrack has licensed songs are certainly doomed. And goodbye to any Crypt of the Necrodancer streams.

It doesn't effect LIVE streams, but it does effect all past broadcasts, so if you miss your favorite streamers thing, too bad, you can't ever watch it now unless you want it to be a silent film.

You could essentially switch services, but it's tedious to do that when that means losing your followers, for a service that is a lot less known. There's a reason there isn't another "YouTube" out there, even with all of their bullshit. What a mess.

General Rotors / So, I made this video on YouTube.
« on: July 28, 2014, 02:54:07 PM »
And, as annoying as self advertisement can be sometimes, I kinda gotta do it if I want ... views?

I have stream on Twitch that me and some friends do every Tuesday and Friday, but I had decided  like eight years ago that I had wanted to make game reviews at some point. So, my plan is to do them WITH the people I stream with as well, same style video as I'm posting here, but with not just me every time. I had fun making it, and it took a lottttt longer than I could have imagined. It has some cheese to it, but I've been told it was at least entertaining, so I plan on making more in the future as well.

Anyway, if y-you guys wouldn't mind watchin' it and like ... I dunno.... sharing or commenting or whatever THAT WOULD BE COOL. Or, ya know, shit on me, whatever works.

So uh, yeah.

(that's a totally sincere like "hey can you like/comment/share this?" question by the way. Only way I am going to get views right now on shit is by asking so ... any help is nice)

It'd have been neat to do like a secret santa gift exchange over the holidays or something. I don't think we've ever done anything like that, but seeing as there are only like, maybe 7 people that have posted here as of late, it would almost be pointless. Plus, somebody would end up drawing the short stick and have to receive/get a gift from Hol. So ... perhaps it was for the best.

General Rotors / How well would a mIRC Channel do now?
« on: November 08, 2012, 03:51:56 PM »
With all ... 4 people. Or maybe there is one, and I'm totally out of the loop, I don't know. Do people still use mIRC? Or is it all Skype now? I just kind of fake around on the internet on a phone, so, can't exactly say I'm totally up to date with what people use to communicate with anymore. (I still use AIM to talk to like two whole people, is that something that is done?)

ANYWAY, so yeah, I mean, I guess everybody is probably scattered in like dying things like #allthecoolkids or #germannamedwarthingthatMightFoxruns I don't even know.  But if not, maybe that would be a thing. A thing to try.

Probably a bad idea though.

General Rotors / So, legitimate question for all of you
« on: September 22, 2012, 10:45:33 PM »
SO, even though this forum is stupidly dead, I know that this post will linger here for eternity so I have a request!

I am in the process of trying to get my own business started. This definitely isn't an "instant" thing in the slightest, and I feel it probably won't really be up for at least two years. When I was living in Ohio, a friend of mine opened up a place called Arcade Legacy ( which is a fantastic establishment that was a free play arcade, but we also sold games and media. Systems of every type. Games of every type. Prices that were better than pretty much everywhere. This is hands down the best gaming store that I have ever been to and ever been apart of.

That being said, my goal is to open one up in Florida. However, it is a lot more difficult because for the most part I am on my own. I will get some support in the next few years, but as of right now, seeing as his business is still new, he cannot just ... well help with anything for the time being.

So here is what I am asking. I need media. Lots and lots of media. I am looking for video games, CDs, DVDs, systems. Anything. Everything. All of it. I am willing to purchase this stuff for a feasible price (seeing as my ultimate goal is to MAKE money on this and try to get the business established in the first place, and be able to buy MORE media in bulk to really get it started), but of course, ya know, donations are totally awesome as well.

Like I said. I need to get as much as I can. So, if any of you ARE willing to help that would be pretty superb. So basically you could either, leave a message here saying what you have, and if you KNOW, how much you want for it. Or you can e-mail me ( or or ... very rarely am I ever on AIM or Skype, but there is also Facebook I guess. But yeah. I don't really expect this to explode with popularity or anything, but I gotta try whatever I can to start mass piling media and what not.

General Rotors / Need somebody who is good at HTML, CSS, and PHP
« on: April 07, 2010, 02:17:43 PM »
Right so ... my dad got a hold of me a couple weeks ago and wants this website built for his company and what not. I went over to his house and designed the site to his specifications via the wonders of MS Paint, however, when it comes to coding from scratch I'm pretty terrible and was hoping to find a person with free time who could assist in the creation of this site.  I have all the needed information and when it comes to the upkeep after it's creation, I can handle that fine, but again ... I need someone to help with this.

It's kind of a "rush" project too, like hopefully to be finished in I dunno the next couple of weeks or something? SO uh ... know anybody? Anyone willing to ... be a big ol' super pal?  Scream at me here, or on AIM. Either way. Thanks, chumbs.

Seriously. This is probably the only thing I'd miss in Ohio when I decide to leave. It blows all those other generic stores like Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, Giant Eagle, Publix, whatever away.

It's like 7 Acres large and constantly growing. Over 1,200 types of cheese, 10,000 different wines, thousands of different hot sauces, food from pratically every country of the world categorized by their own gigantic sections. Amazing bakery and Meat Shop. Gigantic health food section. Tons of various different "exotic" meats. Osterich, Horse, Goat, Shark, things you can't normally GET elsewhere. I am pretty sure this place is the best market ever created.

... It was even voted to have the best restroom in America:

So tell me, are there amazing grocery stores like this in your area?    i doubt it

General Rotors / So does anybody still play Brawl? IF so, post your stats.
« on: September 17, 2009, 03:38:59 PM »
Edit: Okay, so, I'm vaguely curious as to what everyone's stats are in Brawl. Like, just pick a handful of your own stats. Like the stats for your most used characters, how many matches played, stats for the name you use, et cetera. I watch my Brawl stats obsessively because well ... For some reason I like watching numbers go up. So, post'em.

Or are me and "drak" the only ones who still play it like every week? If so, do you play it competitively? Or just for fun? Do you still use the mains you used when it came out? Or have you changed it up a lot?

Generally, we just play for fun, items on, all that jazz (except Smash Balls and Dragoon items. Fuck those guys), and get together every Tuesday or Wednesday for a Brawl Night. Both of us have attempted to get into the more competitive scene, going to a couple tournements and what not, but ... god the people you meet at tournements are the worst fucking neckbeards in existence. Either that or the most annoying cocky 'i am a cool guy because i play a game' type people. The tournements are fun, but we definitely haven't won any.

I seem to pick up a new character all the time, so ... my "main threats" have become Diddy, Ness, Lucas, Snake, Wario, Luigi, Mario, The Blue Baron (.. a blue donkey kong), Falco, Captain Falcon, Ganon, Bowser.  ... Yeah. We ... we tend to jump around characters a lot.

So. Yeah. Does anybody else still play this?

General Rotors / What's the point of being "Hidden?"
« on: September 11, 2009, 04:41:02 PM »
When, really there are only like two people ever who are hiding, and everyone knows who they are. So what's the point of ... making it so others cannot see you're online? (even though it clearly says "HEY TWO PEOPLE ARE HIDING!) I guess this goes along with the shitty logic of locking your own (or any) topics and "ignoring" users so you can't see their posts?

... Really, what's worse, a community dying because it has nobody to post in it, or dealing with people like this:

Okay. So ... We have never even found an SNES Copy with a box an manual, but this bad boy is SEALED. And he has TWO.  Imagine all that could be done with those! One could remain sealed for all time, and the second could be used to get more Art for the website with. Or something.

S-so, w-waddaya say guys? We sure do have a lot of Shaq Fu topics, eh?

but seriously.

Update: He has a "Make an offer" button button. I offered $15.00 per item and said I'd buy both. So ... let's see what he says, I guess?

Update 2: So ... He Counteroffered for $25.00. Worth it? Or should I see if he'll drop to $20.00?

Update 3: Master haggler. Got'em.
