I tend to agree with both Seph and Mr. Sparkle Tits here. On Seph's points, I agree there seems to be many different paths we can take, just like the old days. I even found a speed shoe item box while exploring and the music tempo went faster and so did Sonic. I actually thought there was only rings and extra life in the demo since I had not seen that yet. Going to keep on exploring and see what I find.
On Sparkle Tits' points, about the springs, maybe it depends which console you're playing on? I'm playing on the PS3 and I felt that forced to go right problem. Twice. Once from a vertical spring, and another time from an horizontal spring sending me left... that made little to no sense to see Sonic try to go right while I was holding left. As for losing control, whenever he started going as if I was out of control, I pulled him backward (left)... so no, I never lost control of Sonic. Heck, I even forced him to go up in a part where he was supposed to go down. I also managed to stop inbetween the two tunnels that shoot you downward.
Despite these small minor things, chances are I will be getting this game. I'm actually having fun playing a Sonic game for the 1st time in years. Beside, it's a demo, and an early one. Game doesn't come out till late november so they might have time to fix some things that were not yet fixed in this demo. They did blatantly put a screen that said "This does not represent final game quality". Also, it did say "Demo #1" on the download screen... so I'm guessing there will be a #2. We'll have to see.
