Currently dumbfounded at how long the SSE is taking... mostly because I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to do in the maze thing.

On the other hand, made my first custom level and I think it's not too bad.  Need more options though.

There's a map of the maze if you pause.

Makes things much better.

(Also there's 4 warp points use them well)

Knew about the warp points, but not the pause-map.  Thanks!

Sought out and destroyed.

And I win! Woot!

My only complaint?  Sonic seems just tossed in a the last minute, without a single reason to be there.  I guess I can't complain, really.  He's fun to play and they obviously did a good job bringing him to Smash Bros.  Just wish they had given him some back story.

Apparently he really was tossed in at the last second.  SEGA didn't contact Nintendo until last year so they didn't have time to work him into the plot (He was the only character who was actually worked on in 2007.  All the others were long since done.)

Well, in that light, I can forgive them.  They did at least work in a nice moment with Sonic doing the 'tisk tisk' thing at the boss, which feels very right for his personality.

In fact, it makes his presence there even more impressive, for their having to put him in at the last moment.  They might have easily just said 'too late, sorry!'.

I don't even own the game but I've played it to death in the past few days, so much so that the entire novelty of it has worn off and it's just a Melee+ now.

Anyway, I played some of the subspace with a friend, found it to be pretty boring.  Classic mode is even worse in the game, and what the hell Target Smash!  No individualized Targets anymore?  Fuck that.  This is not a game I would be buying.  The only reason I can find to play it is the multiplayer, which is pretty stellar.  The final smashes make the experience improved over Melee.

So yeah, multiplayer = great, single player = bad.  Thank you and goodnight.

I dunno, I mean we've been seeing the updates and hearing about what the game was going to be for the past year or so.

Yes!  Which is why it 100% lived up to my expectations.  I expected to one-player stuff to be garbage, and the multiplayer to be awesome.  EVERYBODY WINS!

Yeah I'm not really seeing the part where he said he expected something else :<

Although you're wrong about single player.  I loves it so.

All I was hoping for was Melee + online.

Since it appears to be Melee+ + online, the game has surpassed expectations. ;P

(that said, like Melee, I really don't have fun playing the game on my own -- even the single player. Smash is pretty much 100% multiplayer for me.)

This I agree with. Target Smash was supposed to be a clever way of practicing using a specific character's moveset and aiming them perfectly. Now it's just "hay we set up some targets and hit 'em with whoever you want hokay". =/

Someone want to explain to me how to go from a spindash into the aerial combo that everyone makes a big deal about. I seem to be unable to jump during it.

Really? Just do a down+B spindash and hit the jump button while moving...

You can jump, it's just kinda tricky to time.  But don't worry about the jump so much as the attack.  The trick to this, as far as I can tell is to do the spin dash and, the moment you hit your target, hammer them with an up attack.  I've managed to score something like 20% damage with it.  I guess I'm doing it right *shrugs*.  More experienced players probably could get more out of it.

When playing Sonic, don't be afraid to chase your opponent way off the stage.
