TOURNAMENT IS OVER. A CHAMPION IS HAD.
« on: April 20, 2008, 03:19:49 PM »
spoilers: it's me.

IT'S THE BRACKET!

After a very intense match between FALCOMUS and DRAKEMON TRAINER, drak comes out on top. YAY ME.

And so ends the world's longest Brawl tournament. Someone else host a better one now.

OLD POST:
I had to cut it down to 16 entrants, because that's how it works. :[ I cut Kulock because he was unsure, and Redrapper was drawn from a random-number-generating hat. SORRY, PALS.
Anyway, there you have it. Post whoever wins here and I'll update the thing. Or you can update it yourself, WHATEVER. It just needs to happen.
Remember, it's a best of 3, one character per best-of-3. PLAY FAIR, FOLKS.

OKAY. I guess I'll not be lazy and arrange this here tourney-ment. SO, the rules! I think this should end up being fair enough...
ITEMS
All items except for the following will be turned on. Frequency will be set to Low.

Smash Ball
Assist Trophy *
Heart Container
Dragoon Parts
Starman
Superspicy Curry
Timer
Lightning

* If you're wondering why I turned off ATs but left Pokeballs... most of the pokeballs don't chase you, are easy to dodge, and don't last long. Most ATs chase you and last WAY TOO LONG.

I'll try and answer any questions/suggestions about items, but this basically turns off most of the stuff you simple can't fight back against. I'm leaving the hammers in because the normal hammer is easy to knock people out of, and the golden hammer only appears once every fifty years. :[ ]

OTHER RULES
3 Stock, no time limit
Matches will be best two out of three
You must stay the same character during each matchup, but you may switch inbetween matchups.
75m, Mario Bros, Warioware, Port Town not in play because they are stupid stupid fat stages of terrible (except for warioware, but that one gives starmans so :[)

DATE
Signup cutoffs on April 26th, date/time for matches will be decided once the bracket is all jammed up

Also I guess the tournament format would just be a... bracket.. format thing. I really don't know how these work so someone else can set that part up once we get people signed in B)
LET'S SEE IF WE CAN'T GET THIS BALL ROLLING. Suggestions are acceptable.

As far as a date goes, maybe we should just have the bracket with people doing the matches whenever they can :[

I'm game, and it gives me enough time to unlock everything with my new US version (hooray for English text) but also means I need to kick you all to add my new number once I go and get it.

.... This makes a lot more sense. XD HURK. Let's go with that, then.
BUT let's make the cutoff point for signups next saturday. That sound good?

Hi. I'm in. (That's hoping my disc does not give me the "Game Disc Error" message. But at least it's working fine since the past week.)

I guess I'm in. We'll probably want to figure out some way to do the tourney brackets that meshes with people's schedules -- ie people who are only free to play on weekends are paired together, etc, just for sanity's sake.

PS: eagerly awaiting "UNREAL TOURNAMENT TIME ??" parody thread

I'm in, sure.
I'm free to play after 4PM US Central Time all weekdays except Wednesday, and all weekends unless something else comes up first.

Joshi in.  JOSHI IN.

..Is this just 1 match each or best 2 out of 3?  Also, do we have to use one character throughout the whole thing, or what?

... Oh. OH. I forgot about the best 2 out of 3 thing. I WILL AMEND THIS.
Also I think it should be one character per matchup, so like you use Olimar for your 2/3 matches with one person, but you can switch to Samus for your 2/3 matches with the next person. This would ensure that there's nothing like "WELL THAT GUY WON WITH KIRBY... time to switch to IKE to assure victory :)"

I will amend the first post!

I'm Coming Too!
So basically the character you pick for the first of your 3 matches is who you have to be for the rest, right?

Aright, good XD That's exactly how I was hoping it'd be.

This means I can use not-Lucas against the people who know how I use him but use Lucas against everyone else and thus gain SUPER ADVANTAGE.
(except I'm not nearly as good with anyone else so uh)

I think it's that you have a best two out of three you can't switch during, but during your next best two out of three, you can change characters.

You don't like Port Town, drak? Is it because of the F-Zero cars?

Oh, as for setting up the brackets, you can just assign everyone a number and then use Brawl's tournament mode to randomise them and set up the brackets and crap.

Yeah, I really feel that the cars are too powerful in Port Town :[ In Mute City, they were pretty harmless until the higher damages, but I always feel like the cars are KOing me at like 40% in Port Town. I wish I could like the stage more, since Mute City was my second favorite stage in Melee...

THIS IS A FINE IDEA, CHAP. you get right on that. :o)

I'd like to point out that some of the current participants are still marked as "Awaiting" on my game. Would help if everyone added everyone, no?

That is all.
