Hello. Do you like science fiction? This is a trick question. As a reader of this forum, you are a nerd, which means you love science fiction. This is why you must see Moon as soon as possible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twuScTcDP_Q Moon is a story about a man who has been working in solitude on the moon for three years when he suddenly begins to realize that THINGS ARE NOT AS THEY SEEM (!) It's thoughtful and surprising and sometimes creepy and sometimes funny and just all around a very entertaining movie. And Sam Rockwell's performance, oh my God. You have to see it to believe it it's so fucking good.

Have you seen Moon? If so, use this thread to discuss how it was amazing. If not, go and see it immediately, and then return to this thread to discuss how it was amazing. Because it is amazing. And if you don't see it, I will beat you up.

I will basically beat all of the unbeatenupness out of you.

I liked it, but I felt like the movie changed gears a little too readily once the big reveal came up. It just sorta shifted genres and said "Okay, we're going to do this now".
I can believe that Sam was legitimately going crazy and we were just looking through his perception of things, considering he was coming up on the end of his lifespan, but it just felt kind of abrupt when his clone popped up and found him and the whole thing kinda turned into some strange Twilight Zone version of the Odd Couple. And even that I didn't have too much of a problem with, because it worked on some kind of zany sci-fi level. It's just the transition, I guess. I will say that it's interesting how Duncan Jones chose to invoke Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey as well, considering you're dealing with a lot of similar themes, and yet the HAL-like computer actually goes the opposite direction on the AI morality scale. AI's not always a crapshoot, I guess.
Anyway A+ would watch again

why have you not seen Moon already

Because when I asked a friend if she wanted to go see Moon with me she was all like, "I don't want to see a serious suspenseful movie on a hot summer's day.  I want to see something fun".

And so we saw G-Force.

That decision will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Darn kansas movie theatres... I'll have to wait until at least Oct. 23rd to even have the opportunity to see it anywhere close to where I live. That preview was awesome though!

Sadly, no Moon for the Minneapolis area yet. However, my thirst for a good science fiction film will be quenched Friday when District 9 comes out. It's about aliens that come to Earth as refugees and humans force them into a refugee camp in South Africa. A rather original concept for a summer action movie.

Guess what turned out to be playing in one theater in San Jose (and I think nowhere else at all close-by)?

I'll give you two guesses.

It was a good movie, whatever it was.
