I guess I'm making my obligatory one-post-per-year (honestly, I lurk around here, I really do) to show you my weird New Wave band.

For the past year-and-a-half or so I've been the frontman of a musical collective (we change lineups too often to be accurately called a band) called "SCARY MERCEDES". It's nothing serious so much as it is a way for me to scratch my recording/arranging itch (although I am pretty proud of what I've written and performed).
A week ago we released our newest EP, called "Chaos Engine".
We have a soundcloud:
http://soundcloud.com/scarymercedesYou'll find most (but not all) of our work up there. I'd suggest listening to "Bethlehem 2000" and "The Wicker Man Revolt" first, and trying "6-1-7-4" if you don't like either of those (that last one was written by the other permanent band member, Jimmy). If you like any of that, you can get our EP at
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/41610224/Chaos%20Engine.zip(The majority of our older material, or at least the parts worth hearing, can be found on the soundcloud.)
Initially we started out as a hardcore synthpunk band (imagine a cross between DEVO and Minor Threat) but as we've developed we've tapped into other random influences (ranging from the Mars Volta to Howard Drossin).
I'd appreciate opinions! And if you really like it,
