To answer the questions of two people here who both have two letter usernames: I've played Link's Awakening (the only one I've completed), a bit of the original NES Zelda game, and a fair bit of Ocarina of Time.
Long story short, I just see it as a dungeon trawl. I'll admit I liked Awakening because it had an interesting scenario, decent dungeons, and some actual character you could get invested in. With the others, it just felt like the dungeon's were getting arbitrary (though Ocarina had some interesting dungeons), I didn't really care for the characters and hence didn't have much interest in the plot of the game. Now that I think about it, I did find Ocarina pretty decent, I enjoyed various bits of it but I got a little tired by all the fetch/mingame quests I felt I had to do (like plant all those seeds, etc) and I think at some point I just lost my drive to complete it.
Looking at the other Zelda games, I just don't see a reason to keep playing. Each one has more dungeons, is their own separate story (so nothing is gained by playing more than one), and just seems like a bunch or repetative task.
But yet again, maybe I'm being harsh. I did play Ocarina many years after it had been released so I maybe it just aged worse than I expected. Maybe I should finish playing Ocarina (the N64 still works), and Majora's mask does have my interest since I played it on someone else's house and the idea of replaying the same 3 days and building up a timetable and all the other stuff does seem like a cool gameplay mechanic.
