Have you ever met a real hedgehog?

When I was a kid, my parents got us up to see a real hedgehog in our garden. They knew I was a fan of Sonic at the time, so I loved it. We gave it milk to drink. It was impressive how fast it ran, and when it curled up into a ball, it was amazing to see how they did it so perfectly. You could pretty much roll it (though we didn't, because that would be cruel).

So yeah, loved it.

I've met a few, mostly in pet shops. Their little paws are ugly as heck, but other than that they're pretty cute. I like how they wiggle their noses and make some funny, dumb faces.

A year or two back when I was over at my girlfriends' place, she was out in the backyard for something I don't remember, and suddenly I heard her call me from outside, when I came over I saw her squatting beside the tree, pointing to the ground, and sure enough, there was a hedgehog sitting there. We got it a small bowl of catfood and kept our distance, standing in the doorway to the backyard, and we could hear it chewing on the food. =3

I guess to an actual hedgehog a semi barreling down on it is not quite as ridiculously oversized (relatively speaking) as would appear in SA2.

it's kind of understandable now that i've looked it up. hedgehogs could be a threat to wildlife in the region, and crossbreed with other animals to make a hedgecoon, or groundhedge.

Since I wasn't hanging on to anything because I had just stood up, I went flying to the front of the bus. When I got up and was about to yell at the driver, I looked outside and sure enough there it was. An actual hedgehog! My anger went away as soon as I realized he stopped to save that hedgehog's life. We just waited until it finally crossed the road. Good chance it had escaped from the zoo that was nearby.

people in general tend to be nicer to animals than their fellow man/woman. the story about the ducks sounds vaguely familiar.

I think if I saw a hedgehog running around in the wild here I would assume it escaped somebody's home rather than the zoo.
